VUELA (Taking Flight) PROJECT (OLPC)

The Marina Orth Foundation is proud to be able to implement the project "Taking Flight"-"VUELA" at Marina Orth School. Taking Flight is the pilot project of the One Laptop per Child Foundation for Colombia.

The Foundation has brought a special team together to develop Taking Flight, comprised of an executive director, a director of pedagogy and a technological director, all of whom work with the school principal and teachers.

We would like to acknowledge the patronage of the Chevron Petroleum Company which has donated all of the computers to us as well as the cost of their installation and the personal training that allowed us to execute this project. We want to thank the donation of the technical teams for the implementation of the One Laptop Wireless done by Motorola Broadband Solutions.

We also want to also emphasize the unconditional support that we have received from North Catholic University, a pioneer in Virtual Education in Colombia, and with whom we have forged an agreement of pedagogical cooperation. Thanks to the university and to all the local businesses that have given their help in order to make this project possible. We now have in our hands an educational plan that we will be able to measure and to improve upon throughout this process. Thank you to the Medellin initiative of the One Laptop per Child Program for giving us world class standards. Finally, thanks to God for the opportunity to use a tool that is able to be an element of transformation in the fight for education for all of our children. We do not yet know the final results, so let`s go to work!
